It is very important that the network is not powered up whilst connections are being made.
  • The RS485 protocol converter is connected to the rear of the PC using a serial cable with D connectors. It converts the short range RS232 available here to a long-range version. RS485 allows network connections of up to 1KM.

  • The double gang electrical box unit should be secured to the wall adjacent to the PC and close to a mains socket.

  • This device contains DIP switches, which are normally factory set and must not be altered. All should be in the OFF position. They are there to connected line termination resistors.  We have found that for best results they should be left disconnected.

  • 4 wires from the network are connected directly to screw terminals as shown below.

  • A serial cable is supplied for connection to the serial port 1 (Com 1) on the PC.

  • After all network connections have been made, the DC2000 controllers connected & powered up and the PC running it is safe to connect the plug in power supply.
