Password Security Level

A field displays the current level of password security. The level of security is set from the USERS window.

Last Door Number This field displays the number of door controllers controlled by SMART for Windows
Last Dept. Number .This field displays the number of departments set up in SMART (see departments)

Last Card Number This field displays the last card number issued. It enables the system anticipate the next card number for faster adding of Card Holder details.

COM Port The Communications Port is the serial port on older copmputers. Smart.net requires that this is set to COM Port 1, therefore you cannot change this setting. On later PCs there is no Comm Port. n Therefor Smart.net is connected using a USB -Serial convertor. The driver for this hard ware should define COM 1 as the required connection.

Create New Database at As transactions (ie cards being swiped at readers) occur the record of the event is stored in a file (transactions file). This transactions file gets larger as time goes on. The larger the file gets the slower SMART for Windows will be when you wish to run reports and the more space Smart.df1 will take on the computers hard drive. It is necessary therefore to purge the old data from the Smart.df1 data file. When more records are stored in the transactions file than the number displayed here SMART will remind you to run the data purge routine.

Anti-Passback Smart.net does not support true antipassback. This is because in practise it causes many more administration problems than it solves. However we recognise the need to prevent repeated use of the same card for access, if the Card Holder has not swiped out. We call this double knock anti-passback.

Setting this field to Y will turn on Double Knock Anti-Passback.

This will allow the Card Holder to enter the site and the CardHolder status will be set to On Site. If the Card is then re-used through a Time Recording door (and access granted), the Card Holder will be disabled.

The Card Holder will not be ableto use their card in ANY door until the Card is reset... Set As Out. This means set the Card Holder as Off Site.

Path to SMART folder SMART.net needs to know where on the computers hard drive the various files it requires are stored.
