Using a door handle magnetic lock
Door handle magnetic locks offer an elegant alternative to normal magnetic lcoks and fitting of ANSI strikes. Door handle magnetic locks can be used with aluminium and timber doors. When used with double doors, one leaf should be fixed in place.

The magnet is fitted to the frame (or fixed door) and the handle with armature plate (inside) is fitted to the opening door.

The advantages of using this magnetic lock over other magnetic locks

  • Door is locked in the middle (rather than the top)
  • Handle hides the ugly brackets on conventional magnetic locks.

All magnetic locks are fail safe devices. That mean that if power is removed the lock will open. You will always need a method of opening the door from the outside (eg keyswitch, keypad, or access control), as there is no key override.

In simple terms there are two types of lock :-

  • Single door handle magnetic lock (1 magnetic lock, 600 lb holding force)
  • full height door handle magnetic lock (2 magnetic locks, 1200 lb holding force)
